Bagot Inn Little Meaw’s Thai Kitchen Claimed

The Bagot Inn’s kitchen re-opened in January 2020, under the new management of Thorrung Sriwirote, better known locally as Little Meaw.

Meaw has lived and worked in Jersey for over 22 years.

Prior to leaving her homeland of Thailand, she studied Thai Cuisine at a college in the country capital, Bangkok. On completion of her course she qualified as a Thai Chef and was offered a position at a 5 Star Bangkok Hotel. Unfortunately for Meaw, her family needed her to help run the family business producing Rice and Sugar Cane, so she was unable to take up the position at the Hotel. Her love for cooking never diminished and so she honed her skills at every opportunity, using her family, friends and relatives as guinea pigs.

Since arriving in Jersey all those years ago, she has managed a number of kitchens in the Island, including The Cave des Vins Thai Kitchen, the Old JMT Bus Station Cafe, Samares Manor Tea Room, the Indoor Bowling Club Kitchen at Grainville, the Caverna Guest House and the Alhambra Hotel Kitchen. She learned to cook a variety of more English and European dishes at these locations.

Never losing her love for cooking Thai Food, Meaw has also worked in the kitchens of the Dicq Shack and more recently The Sugar Banana, at St Aubin. For a short period, she also offered her Thai cooking skills to Islanders, going to their private homes where she produced dinner parties. Many of those people lucky enough, would attest to the quality of the Thai food she produced.

Meaw’s underlying ambition has always been to run her own Thai Kitchen, so when the opportunity arose to fulfil that ambition, she jumped at the chance. Hence she is now producing food at the small, intimate kitchen at The Bagot Inn. Being that it is a small kitchen, Meaw intends concentrating on producing not only all the popular Thai dishes many Islanders will already know and love but also some that may not be so well known. To make all these dishes stand out from the crowd, she is using only top quality vegetables, meats and fish, sourced wherever possible, from local suppliers. These are cooked with a variety of pastes and sauces some of which she makes herself using the freshest ingredients to create the true Authentic Thai Cuisine.

Being a local small business venture, Meaw was approached to help promote Vibrant Jersey, who in turn offer help to promote any small local businesses. She is delighted to get involved, especially as already stated, she is sourcing her ingredients locally.

The food Meaw produces is second to none. The service is brilliant from the time of ordering you are given a rough time on how long before your food is ready. When it is ready you will receive a text saying just that. If you’re having a delivery the text says your food is on its way. Payment is accepted in cash or by card with a text option to enter your card details at home giving you peace of mind for contactless delivery. If collecting you can have a drink at the bar in the Bagot Inn if you have to wait. Once the Covid problem is over you also have an option to eat in. Normally a few days after having your food Meaw will text you so you can give feed back a very refreshing part of the service offered.
