Voyager & Tides at the Somerville Claimed

4.6/52 Reviews

Tides restaurant is an all year round favourite location for foodies. Here, all the elements conspire to create a memorable gourmet experience; with fine wines in fine glasses and food to delight the senses.

Let your mind flow with the tide and lose yourself in one of the Island’s best views overlooking the whole of St Aubin’s Bay toward St Helier. This is a place to dream and relax, a perfect romantic escape and calming setting to celebrate a delicious meal with friends and family.

There are so many creations to choose from at Tides restaurant. Seafood fans are well satisfied with the selection of fish dishes, like grilled whole Plaice on the bone sautéed new potatoes, asparagus with Shrimp Brown Butter.

In fact, in the summer months the restaurant pays homage to the lobster with an entire menu dedicated to this most succulent and decadent of shell fish.

The chef at Tides prepares what he calls good honest food. It’s just that, there’s no pretending, it’s fresh, beautifully presented and very tasty. Try the pan fried king prawns, tuna sashimi, nori seaweed with wasabi and coriander.

For a meat extravaganza try the beef or perfectly cooked steak, sourced from Irish and British farms, guaranteed to leave you satisfied. Another favourite is the roast rump of lamb with golden beetroot, roast goat’s cheese served with curly kale & noisette potatoes.

Ask our sommelier which wines will perfectly complement your food; the staff are happy to help with any of your dietary requests.

A long lazy afternoon over delicate finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones lavished with Jersey cream, overlooking boats tinkering in the harbour … that’s why so many love to indulge in our celebrated afternoon tea.

In the evening the bar is a buzz with cocktail lovers enjoying the atmosphere and the evening lights over the Bay. Ask the bartender for an original creation, like the Minty Silk, a concoction of Lemon curd, gin, sugar, lemon juice, orange juice and gold dust!

Friends, laughter, romance and family … these come in with the tide!

Never had a bad experience

This restaurant is one of mine and my husbands favourites. We have been here for birthdays, New Year’s Day and various other celebrations. We have bought both sides of our family, separately and together and have always been treated fantastically. The staff are efficient and friendly and always make you feel welcome. My favourite cocktail is a negroni and The Somerville serve the best one I’ve tried. We have also been here for a Sipsmith gin pairing dinner which was also an excellent and different experience. I could not fault the food, we’ve never had a bad meal here and the view is absolutely incredible, even on a dreary day.

Sunday Lunch

Booked for a Sunday Lunch as a Birthday present and pleased that we chose here. The view over St Aubin is amazing and the food was great value. The Sunday Lunch menu was excellent value at just £32 / head for 3 courses as the portions were very generous and equally as tasty. Just one minor negative was that there never seem to be enough biscuits to go with the selection of cheeses
